BROOME COUNTY, N.Y. -- March was Red Cross Month and a fast food restaurant jumped on board to help raise money and awareness of the charity organization.
Throughout the month of March, seventeen Wendy’s restaurants in the area provided ways for their customers to donate through their Red Cross Squares program.
Tuesday, we found out how much they raised. Wendy’s representatives presented a check for $6,380 to the Southern Tier chapter of the American Red Cross. The campaign also helped raise awareness of the charitable work the organization does for the community.
American Red Cross representatives say donations like this one go a long way in helping them complete their mission to give aid to those going through disasters.
"Just last month, we responded to seven local fires and were able to assist 27 individuals because we have this kind of support," said American Red Cross Community Chapter Executive Shelley Bierwiler.
Wendy's has partnered with the American Red Cross every March for the past four years, raising more than $25,000.
