An annual event on Martin Luther King Day will benefit those in need. As Brad Vivacqua reports, the Greater Syracuse Labor Council and United Way are hosting their annual Day of Service.
SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Volunteers have been participating for 14 years on the annual Day of Service to help provide warm clothes and food for those less fortunate.
Donations can be dropped off at the Teamsters Building on Spencer Street from 8 a.m. until noon on Monday. Winter coats, hats, boots, and non-perishable food items are the most needed donations.
After the collection has finished, volunteers will distribute them to agencies across the region.
"Agencies, churches, food pantries, because we're trying to make sure all parts of our community, they're covered with coats, or maybe with some food to get them through, so it's just an opportunity to be able to help the next man," said Helen Hudson, Day of Service Coordinator.
Hudson also thanked the volunteers for donating their time to collect and deliver donations.
If you want to help, donations be dropped off at the Local 317 on 566 Spencer Street in Syracuse.
