LISBON BEACH, N.Y. -- Lights on the River has become a true holiday tradition in St. Lawrence County.
The free event features a light display along the river at Lisbon Beach. However, community support is needed to keep it running.
Organizers have planned a spaghetti dinner fundraiser for next week at the Elk's Lodge in Ogdensburg. The money will go towards setting up the 75 different light displays.
Lights on the River also serves as a fundraiser for local food pantries. People who attend are asked to donate money or food. During the first three years, Lights on the River raised $33,000.
"Every year it grows and we're able to help more. It's really nice to be able to help people in the community, especially with the way the times are. We're helping our friends, and families and neighbors. It's really a great thing," said Scott Wilhelm, Lights on the River president.
This year's Lights on the River kicks off December 14, and runs through December 22.
