Windy and Warm Today

Watching Storm East Wednesday...

A warm front produced a period of rain late last night and very early this morning.  In it's wake, a broad, at times gusty, south-southwesterly flow will blow in near record warmth today!  We should also see some sun develop with just a few spotty sprinkles/shower this morning and again late in the day with a cold front.  Highs today will make the mid to upper 60s for most!!  The record high in Syracuse today is 70° set back in 1931, which will probably be safe, but I don't think we will be too far off that record.  Get out and enjoy it, because late today/early tonight a fast moving cold front will shift the winds to more of a westerly direction, and the air will chill down to more seasonable levels for Tuesday, but at least we will see some sun on Tuesday.  A limited amount of lake rain and snow changing to just snow will develop late tonight into Tuesday east-northeast of Lake Ontario, with minor accumulations of snow expected across the Tughill.  Highs Tuesday will be in the 40s.

Our attention turns to a coastal system on Wednesday and Wednesday night, which could have potential impacts on us locally, and especially for those traveling to the east of Central NY and along the East Coast.  Stay tuned for updates over the next couple of days.  Thanksgiving Day will likely feature some snow, especially later in the day into Thanksgiving night.  A strong cold front will be the culprit for the snow later on Turkey Day, as it will likely zip through with a burst of snow followed by a brief period of lake snow Thanksgiving night into early Friday.  Some at least minor accumulation is probable for Turkey Day through early Friday.  Highs will be in the low to mid 30s Wednesday and Thanksgiving, while we will likely struggle to get out of the 20s Friday with a brisk wind to boot.

Stay tuned for more updates regarding this changeable forecast!

Windy and Warm Today!

Watching Storm East Wednesday...

**HIGH WIND WARNING is in effect for Jefferson County from This Afternoon - Tonight **

A warm front produced a period of rain late last night and early this morning.  In it's wake, a gusty, warming south-southwesterly flow will develop today.  We should also see some sun develop with a few leftover showers and sprinkles this morning and again late in the day a few showers will probably pop up with a cold front.  Highs today will make the 50s and low 60s for much of Northern NY, but well into the 60s for Jefferson County, including the Watertown area!  Get out and enjoy it, because late today/early tonight a fast moving cold front will shift the winds to more of a westerly direction, and the air will chill down to more seasonable levels for Tuesday.  A limited amount of lake effect rain and snow changing to just snow will develop late tonight into Tuesday in and around Watertown to the Tughill, with minor accumulations of snow possible, especially across the Tughill.  Highs Tuesday will be in the low to mid 40s early, but inching back into the 30s and low 40s during the afternoon.  Any lake effect snow showers will dissipate Tuesday night.

Our attention then turns to a coastal system for Wednesday and Wednesday night, which could have potential impacts on us locally, and especially for those traveling to the east across the Adirondacks and along the East Coast.  Stay tuned for updates over the next couple of days.  Thanksgiving Day will likely feature some snow, especially later in the day into Thanksgiving night.  A strong cold front will be the culprit for the snow later on Turkey Day, as it will likely zip through with a burst of snow followed by some snow showers and flurries that will taper pretty quickly Thanksgiving night.  A minor accumulation is possible for Turkey Day and Thursday night.

A warm front produced a period of rain late last night and very early this morning.  In it's wake, a broad, at times gusty, south-southwesterly flow will blow in possible record warmth today to the Southern Tier!  We should also see some sun develop with just a few spotty sprinkles/shower this morning and again late in the day with a cold front.  Highs today will make the mid and perhaps upper 60s for most!!  The record high in Binghamton today is 63° set back in 1979, which will probably be broken this afternoon!  Get out and enjoy it, because late today/early tonight a fast moving cold front will shift the winds to more of a westerly direction, and the air will chill down to more seasonable levels for Tuesday.  Highs will be in the low to mid 40s with some sunshine on Tuesday.  A limited amount of lake rain and snow changing to just snow will develop late tonight into Tuesday east-northeast of Lake Ontario and Erie, with minor accumulations of snow expected downwind of the big lakes, but thankfully nothing like last week.

Our attention turns to a coastal system on Wednesday and Wednesday night, which could have potential impacts on us locally, and especially for those traveling to the east of Binghamton and along the East Coast.  Stay tuned for updates over the next couple of days.  Thanksgiving Day will likely feature some snow developing, especially later in the day into Thanksgiving night.  A strong cold front will be the culprit for the snow later on Turkey Day, as it zips through with a burst of snow followed by a brief period of lake snow Thanksgiving night into early Friday.  Some at least minor accumulation is probable for Turkey Day through early Friday.  Highs will be in the low to mid 30s Wednesday and Thanksgiving, while we will likely struggle to get out of the 20s Friday with a brisk wind to boot.
