Areas of Lake Effect Snow Today

Temperatures Improve Over the Weekend

Today will feature lake effect snow southeast of Lake Ontario which will be moderate/heavy at times, making for difficult travel across parts of Central NY. Where snow is most persistent, snow accumulations through the afternoon are expected to range from 3 to 5 inches with a localized 5 to 8 inches (especially for sections of Cayuga County and Oswego County). Aside from the lake effect, it's cold and brisk on this Friday with highs only in the upper 20s and low 30s. Lake snow showers should weaken and shift east of Lake Ontario tonight as temperatures bottom out between 15 and 20 degrees.

A warm front will keep the overall weather pattern on the unsettled side this weekend and provide a mostly cloudy sky tomorrow along with the risk for a couple of snow showers. Highs will be in the mid 30s. Once that front clears to the north, temperatures will get a little bit of a boost on Sunday with highs in the upper 40s. Don't get used to it though because we have another cool down in store for the early part of next week.

Have a great Friday!

Still Cold Today

Temperatures Improve Over the Weekend

Other than the risk for a couple of snow showers/flurries today, it will be another cold one with highs only in the 20s/near 30 degrees. Expect a variably cloudy sky and cold conditions tonight with a few snow showers. Lows will generally be in the teens and 20s.

A warm front will keep the overall weather pattern on the unsettled side this weekend and provide a partly/mostly cloudy sky tomorrow along with the threat for a few snow showers. Highs will be in the 20s and 30s. Once that front clears to the north, temperatures will get a little bit of a boost on Sunday with highs in the 40s.
